Task1: Rehearsal log for SIX
EX WIVES REHEARSALS
EX Wives Rehearsal 1:
This was our firs ever dance rehearsal of Ex- Wives. It was a successful first rehearsal as we all became pretty confident with the choreography quite quickly however we were yet to find out, who the wives were so in the next rehearsal, the next week, all of our spacing changed. I believe that I could look more excited and confident with my movements in this rehearsal however this will come over time as we polish the dance.
Strengths from rehearsal:
- Confident in Movement Memory.
- Confident in placement of movements - precision.
Areas of Development:
- Need to work on my Extension - making sure I finish all the movements
Target from Rehearsal:
- Extension within the body on each movement. To do this successfully, I need to rehearse with the music, I need to practice everyday and in front of the mirror.
EX WIVES Rehearsal 2
This next rehearsal was our first dance practice since the queens were announced. We went over what we knew for Ex- Wives although Charlotte and Rob had to change a lot of the choreography and spacing as the wives needed to be centre stage. As an understudy of one of the queens, it is still vital we are all familiar with all of the dance movements and transitions so none of us look out of place. Especially as we can all be seen and all times. For me personally, I wanted to make sure I am on time with each movement meaning I have to know where I am going and what I am doing next.
Progression from last rehearsal:
- Last rehearsal I noticed, I needed to improve on my extension and finishing my moves. After practicing this at home, these were gradually getting better with practice and my swift run throughs of each number at home.
- Still need to polish finishing movements and being in time to move onto the next movement
- Finishing each movement on a clean level. To do this successfully, I need to keep reminding myself of the routine by practising at home, perhaps to a family member, to familiarise my mind and body, ready for the next movement.
GET DOWN
Rehearsal 1
This was our first take on Get Down, which I think went well as a collective for the year 12’s & the year 13’s however myself and Dolly kind of gathered from the beginning we weren’t really sure on the dance so Charlotte decided to have us on one of the sides of the stage higher up so we could pick out particular movements and moments to use from the dance.
Progression from rehearsal:
- A strength from last rehearsal could be how confident Dolly and I come across while we're fulfilling our particular poses on the side. Also our dance sequence during the chorus of the song, we are a lot more in unison with, as a collective we are clearly more comfortable with.
Areas of Development:
- Need to work on my Extension - making sure I finish all the movements
Target from Rehearsal:
- Extension within the body on each movement. To do this successfully, I need to rehearse with the music, I need to practice everyday and in front of the mirror.
Progression from last rehearsal:
- Last rehearsal, I immediately knew that I needed to figure out how to make our specific choreography a lot stronger, by ensuring I'm fully aware of where I am in the dance and what is coming next.
- Still need to polish finishing movements and being in time to move onto the next movement.
- Finishing each movement on a clean level. To do this successfully, I need to keep reminding myself of the routine by practising at home, perhaps to a family member, to familiarise my mind and body, ready for the next movement.
HAUS OF HOLBEIN
Rehearsal 1
22/09/22- During this lesson last Thursday, we had our warmup led by Kayleigh and then moved on to polishing the lyrics and harmonies in Haus of Holbein so we will get more comfortable singing it while we are rehearsing the choreography on Wednesday with Rob and Charlotte. We then went through the choreography we knew so far for this piece and kept reminding ourselves of each of our harmonies while dancing. Next, Lois decided it would be a good idea to record everything we had worked on so far. Ex Wives is the performance all of us are becoming really skilled at now, therefore we started with that and followed with the singing of No Way, Get Down, Heart of Stone, Haus of Holbein and Six.
ALL YOU WANNA DO
Rehearsal 1
All You Wanna Do is the 5th number within the production and is an ensemble piece for just our class (year 13 pa) and the rest of the wives. During our first rehearsal of this dance, we had managed to complete the majority of it. I think we had one or two verses left. I would say we all picked it up successfully and it had quickly became a dance, I personally enjoyed alongside the rest of the class. Something individual to me that I could work on was definitely remembering to sing the parts of the song that we all sing. I would also say this is one of the numbers within the production that in order for it to look effective you really have to characterise yourself in this new persona and allow each movement and transition to be extended strongly and harshly.
Strengths from rehearsal:
Confidence within the choreography
Extension in finishing my movements
Areas for development:
Ensure I look confident and flirty while I’m dancing. Try not to concentrate on the movements as such and focus more on how strong each movement is and how comfortable I look demonstrating them.
Target from rehearsal:
Keep rehearsing the number outside of college- perhaps in the mirror to familiarise yourself with the choreography so you can then focus on making it look sexy.
Rehearsal 2
As a class this was a number we would all run through when we had a spare minute to keep familiarising ourselves with the sequence. However in our next official rehearsal, we finished the choreography and added the last two verses and how we would end the piece. Once in our final ending positions, we discussed how we would exit the stage and ensure we weren’t just completely forgetting about our character as we walk off. Because the song has quite a repetitive tune, it took me a minute to remember the different movements for the last parts of the song instead of repeating what we use earlier on in the song however after a few run throughs, I started to remember.
Well done, you will need to use this for your evaluation and target plan.
